A Shelton man is accused of accelerating toward a pedestrian and striking them after a minor fender-bender before fleeing the scene without notifying police, authorities said.
Keith Chapman, 67, of Shelton, is charged with interfering with an officer, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree breach of peace, reckless driving, and evading responsibility with physical injury, Connecticut State Police said.
The incident happened Sept. 9 on the Exit 12B off-ramp of Route 8 in Derby, according to police.

A 6-year-old boy who fell into the Housatonic River in Stratford remained missing late Wednesday after several hours of intense search efforts, authorities said.
The child had been walking near the Birdseye Boat Ramp around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, when he fell into the river, police said.
A United Illuminating employee who saw the boy fall jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue the child, but was unable to reach him.
